The opening Match of IPL season2. Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Super Kings(Last year's finalist):M.S Dhoni won the toss and decided to field first, a wise decision obiviously. The two legends of cricket came on the pitch to bat. Everyone was expecting that it is going to be like a hell for the bowlers but then that was not the case. No doubt T20 cricket is bang bang cricket but then there are some other things which matters a lot, like pitch conditions, swing, seam, bounce . Every wicket is not a flat wicket where someone can come and swing his blade in all direction and will become hero. You need to have technique to bat in all possible conditions.
About yesterday's match, the conditions were not favorable for the batsman. When the god of cricket says himself that it was really difficult to bat on during the initial 7-8 overs that means it must be difficult. But then I liked the strategy of Mumbai Indians, there was Sachin Tendulkar who was standing on one site and the others were just coming and hitting. Not many were successful but then there was this guy Abhishek Nair who banged it hard. Though not that hard but as per the pitch conditions it was a good game. And yes others were sure that there is someone on crease who can change the gear any time, I believe that might have given them a confidence to just go and hit the ball as hard as they can.
Now it was time for the bowlers to prove themselves. lasith Malinga and Harbhajn bowled a superb spell just 15 runs in 4 overs. They were supported by Jaisurya and bravo. All in all a good team work and good captaincy. Kudos to Mumbai Indians and all the best for the entire series. Keep winning the matches.
