Every Monday night, thousands of devotees walk bare-footed from their homes to the Siddhivinayak temple in Prabhadevi, some from as far as Mira Road, Bhaynder and Thane. Last week on monday night(6/04/2009)I started with my long time wish i.e walking barefoot to Sidhivinayak temple. Seriously guys there is hell lot of difference between deciding and executing it. But with the Ganpati Bappa's grace I could achieve it. I started walking from my home, Lokhandvala Kandivali East at around 11 PM. Till the time I reached Malad S.V. road I had a doubt in my mind whether I could do it or not. But then when I looked at the hundreds of people including children walking towards Sidhivinayak I told myself "Yes it is possible and I will make it to there". From there onwards the actual journey started.
The first Lap from Malad to Andheri: It took 2 hours to reach Andheri. The best part of this Lap was I experienced the real Indian spirit; I saw some of our Muslims brothers serving water and bananas to the devotees, obviously free of cost.
From Andheri to Bnadra: I reached Bandra at around 3.00 AM. A Police van was roaming on road to make sure that all devotess will maintain law and order. I think Mumbai is the only city in India where females can walk on road fearlessly.
Last Lap From Bandra To Sidhivinayak Temple: Frankly speaking I was damn tired by the time I reached Bnadra, but then I had made my mind that at any cost I am not going to give up. I reached the Temple at around 4.00 AM. Couldn't make it for first Aarati of the day. When I saw the temple I thought that finally I made it, but then no still there was again a long way to go. There was this big queue which took 5 more hours. I was so damn desperate for the Darshan of Ganpati Bappa. And finally I got the Darshan at 9.00 AM. Huhh, finally I made it. There was this big smile on my face. It was an amazing experience.
Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangalmurti Morya.
